Troubleshooting Navionics Charts Northstar Plotters

Units with SONAR/RADAR/SOUNDER/FISHFINDER must be INITIALLY set to FULL MAP to read the Navionics charts.
   1. Press the SPLIT button once, and with the soft keys, select FULL MAP and press ENTER.

1. Software version is viewed in the lower left hand corner. Make sure the unit has the most up-to-date software version (to verify this visit www.northstarnav.com).
If your unit requires a software update, please do not use the Navionics chart to download the software or have the Navionics chip inside the unit when the software is being updated as this will corrupt the Navionics chart and render the card useless.
   a. Press and release the * (STAR) key several times until the OPTIONS/SERVICE INFO screen is displayed
   b. Verify the correct software update version number is displayed.
2. Make sure all the options are turned on
   a. Press the CHART button
   b. Press the CHART SETUP button – will show chart code # date.
   c. Press the CHART DETAIL button
      i. Ensure All applicable items are turned on
         a. Text, Chart edges, Navaids, Land masses, Administrative areas, Anchorage areas, Fish areas, Military areas, Waste
             areas, Restricted areas, Cables/pipelines, Obstructions/rocks/wrecks, Ports & Services, Traffic lanes,
             Vegetation/seabed
         b. Displaying depths – press DEPTHS CONTROL on the CHART DETAIL screen to choose how spot
             soundings, contour lines & shading is displayed. – please note this information can be color-coded (see owners
             manual)
   d. To change from feet to fathoms or meters
      a. Press the * (STAR) button for OPTIONS/SERVICE INFO screen
      b. Press the DISPLAY OPTIONS button
      c. Change the applicable settings
3. For the Northstar 6000i or 6100i only - Select the corresponding file name by displaying the CHART screen and pressing the CHART button. A list of available files will be displayed. – please note to not use both Classic & Gold at the same time unless the unit is fully turned off and then booted back on. The unit will configure itself for one or the other unless it is reset (powered down).
