Have you integrated the use of your Navionics mobile app into your fishing tournament tactics? Navionics Pro, Josh Douglas has shared a clever trick. Scout out areas when water levels are low and structures or brush piles can be seen. If the structure is on land, Josh beaches his boat and physically walks up to the structures. Then he uses the Navionics app to place a marker on that exact point.
Placing a marker using the Navionics app on an iPhone or Android device is simple. On the map screen, tap on the magnifying glass, choose “Lat & Long” from the top right of the screen, and tap “Show on Map”. Then tap the bubble listing the location that appears on the map. In the menu that opens, tap “Add to Favorites” and name the marker.
Returning to the boat, Josh then retrieves the coordinates for the markers from his phone and plugs them as waypoints into his Lowrance unit, adding notes as reminders. This way he knows exactly where to go to put him on top of the fish when he comes back.
Navionics products for use with the most popular GPS chartplotters include Navionics+, Navionics Updates, Platinum+, HotMaps Platinum, Gold and HotMaps Premium. Navionics mobile apps for iPhone, iPad, Android handset and tablet are available on iTunes and Google Play or view charts online via WebApp.
