Navionics Specialist Tim Moore is no stranger to fishing in the cold. In fact, he is New Hampshire’s only full time ice fishing guide; he fishes 80-90 days out of the year granted there is sturdy ice. We caught up with Moore to shed some light on his personal experiences with ice fishing.
Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire, Moore’s home lake, is one of his all- time favorite. It is a 45,000-acre glacial lake that is full of some of the largest white Perch in North America, as well as trout, black crappie, eelpout and smallmouth bass. Moore tells us you can fish an area every day and not fish the same place in one season.
Moore explains that Navionics plays an important role in his ice fishing adventures, “Navionics charts are one of the most important tools in my arsenal. I use the Boating app on my smartphone and the Navionics+ chip in a Lowrance mounted to my snowmobile. This system allows me to locate fishing areas and navigate to known ones. The charts also allow me to navigate to and from fishing areas in the dark during bad weather with low visibility!”
On December 8th, people will have an opportunity to learn from the expert ice fisher, Tim Moore! His webinar on Mobile Ice Fishing will go into detail on how ice fishers can get the most out of their equipment in order to catch more fish!
