Navionics Pro Spotlight: Joe Okada, Professional Walleye Angler

From the time Joe Okada first went fishing with his grandfather at the age of six, he dreamed of turning pro. As a child he even interviewed PWT pro angler Sam Anderson for advice on the subject as part of a school project. He began guiding right after high school and, in 2002, earned his USCG Captains License. In 2004, he teamed up with his father to fish the Masters Walleye Circuit together. In the nine years since turning pro, Joe has fished in the FLW Walleye Tour, AIM Pro Walleye Tour, and Cabela’s National Walleye Tour, earning more than 10 top ten finishes including 4 championship top ten finishes with a win at the 2012 AIM event out of Oconto, WI. When not fishing tournaments, he runs Hook n’ Eyes Guide Service as a multi-species guide, offers technique training, appears at events including youth events, and runs seminars and boat demonstrations.  He specializes in trophy walleye hunts after dark, fully trusting his electronics—and Navionics—to keep him on the fish, and away from navigational hazards.
