In early November, Sean Nightingale, along with his father and brother and equipped with an Apple iPad loaded with Navionics Boating HD, boarded a nearly mint condition 2001, 21 foot Regulator. The trip's mission was to deliver the vessel from Clinton, Connecticut to Sakonnet, Rhode Island. Using the Navionics Dock-to-dock Autorouting feature while onboard the boat, Sean chose his current location at the Clinton Town Marina as his starting point and easily found his destination, the Sakonnet Point Marina, by utilizing the search tool in the feature’s menu. After entering boat settings, Autorouting quickly calculated a detailed route and estimated a fuel consumption of 13.8 gallons, distance of 64.2 nautical miles, plus the time to destination: 2 hours and 17 minutes. The actual cruise took two hours in dead calm water, allowing them to travel around 28 mph and, later when it glassed over, at 35 mph. Sean’s father brought along paper charts, but was quickly impressed with the Navionics Boating app and how accurate it proved to be. Sean not only videotaped the adventure but also tracked his trip on the app where he was able to play back the track in the final video he created. Thanks Sean for sharing your user experience with Navionics! Great video! And don't miss this video demonstration!
