On October 24th and 25th, in Houma, LA, one hundred teams of anglers competed in the IFA’s largest event of the year: the Redfish Tour Championship. At the end of the weekend, with a jump from eleventh place on day one, Rick Murphy and Geoff Page took the championship with a two day combined weight of 35.29 lbs.
In February 2014, Paul Mueller fished his very first Bassmaster Classic and turned heads when he skyrocketed from 47th place to second. He finished in the runner up position after competing against fifty-five of the best anglers.
Denise Sustaita, a life-long angler, brought home the 2014 Rookie of the Year award from the Lady Bass Anglers Association, landed tenth in Angler of the Year standings and finished 8th in the LBAA Classic.
The list of successes continue: Mark Martin was inducted to the Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame in 2014; Tommy Skarlis and his teammate won the 2013 Crappie Masters National Championship; and Brandon Palaniuk landed first place in the Elite Series event on St. Lawrence River in August 2013.
