Navionics, Andrea Mura’s technical sponsor, celebrates the Italian skipper’s victory of the 2017 edition of Ostar with Vento di Sardegna. He left from Plymouth on May 29th and reached a latitude 56° north in 17 days, 4 hours, 6 minutes and 19 seconds, following a course that no skipper had ever attempted.
To aid him in achieving his victory, Andrea Mura used Navionics + cartography for his GPS chartplotter, his Max Sea Navigation software, and the Boating app.
“The charts were extremely useful on the trip. They were very accurate and showed great attention to detail. Even on the two occasions when I was forced to stop and anchor, they faithfully reflected reality,” said Andrea Mura. “Without the aid of the charts it would have been very difficult to carry out this venture, especially when you’re by yourself. The cartography was also of great use on my arrival in New York in avoiding shallow waters and other dangers.”
Navionics cartography is the most trusted among both professional and amateur sailors and is available for GPS chartplotter with Navionics + and Platinum +, and for smartphone and tablet with the Navionics Boating app.
