TORONTO, Canada – Software manufacturer Northport Systems Inc. announced today that its popular Fugawi™ X-Traverse online map collection now supports award-winning Navionics® marine charts for use with MacENC™ version 7 software for Apple Mac OS X version 10.4 or later. This marks the first-ever compatibility of Navionics charts for use with Mac OS-based systems. Adding to its support of Canadian Hydrographic Service (CHS) Canadian Hydrographic Service Digital Charts, NV.Digital charts of the Caribbean and Baltic, Swedish Marine Charts and TRAK Maps, MacENC software owners with an enabled X-Traverse account and subscription now have fingertip access to worldwide Navionics Gold+ international marine and HotMaps® Premium North American fishing charts from X-Traverse.com. Offering Mac-based boating enthusiasts renowned marine cartography, the new map additions feature the unparalleled clarity and detail that are the hallmark of all award-winning Navionics digital charts.

Fugawi X-Traverse support of Navionics marine charts for MacENC allows Mac users to download maps directly from the internet to their computer hard drive for use when an internet connection is not available. In addition, X-Traverse allows boaters to transfer waypoints and saved routes between any of PC-based Fugawi Marine ENC software, iNavX software for the Apple iPhone, and MacENC for Mac OS X.

“We are proud to work in collaboration with MacENC, one of the world’s most advanced marine navigation software products for Mac, and offer boating enthusiasts the first-ever access to Navionics’ worldwide chart collection on the Mac operating system,” said Robin Martel, president of Northport Systems. “With Fugawi X-Traverse, users are assured easy access to extensive, up-to-date and inexpensive charting data anywhere, at anytime, and now on a wider range of computing platforms.”
