Cdr. (ret) Guglielmo Mammucari, General Manager of Navionics Technologies announced that with the extension of the existing agreement with the Italian Hydrographic Office, Navionics has now obtained permission to use official S57 data as additional source for Italian waters without additional cost to the user. This agreement marks a new era of partnership between the public and private sector, working together in the interest of safe navigation.

Under this new agreement, Navionics will integrate the official S57 data in all its products. Navionics’ newly enhanced coverage of Italian waters will ultimately increase overall safety by providing non-commercial users the same accuracy and data previously available only for commercial use.

“This is a new era of partnership” –Cdr. Mammucari added-, “and we are proud to start it with the Italian Hydrographic Office.”

“The decision to make available such quality data without additional cost to the user underlines the safety-oriented politics and professionalism of the Italian Hydrographic Office. Our sincere hope is that other hydrographic offices will follow the same course: commercial quality data available for non-commercial use at right price.”

Navionics products with the newly integrated S57 data for Italian waters will soon be made available for all users of the world’s leading manufacturers of Navionics compatible chartplotters.
